Sneak Peek: Baby Frances | Seattle Newborn Photos

August 16, 2010 by MaryB

This weekend I had the thrill of having a newborn session with adorable baby Frances, whose big sister has been pals with my own Big P since they were weeks old! Seattle summer decided to finally kick in (you know, now that it’s mid-August), so we had no problem keeping baby warm. It was a cool 90 degrees in the area of the house where we were photographing!

I love this photo of Mama, so tender and protective over Frances. Gorgeous baby, gorgeous mama!

Really, I couldn’t get over the cuteness of Frances’ hat, which Shannon had ordered a few weeks earlier. I was so happy to hear that Shannon had a girl, because I had seen the pink hat at our planning session and couldn’t wait to photograph her in it! I loved this picture because she looks like a little angel sleeping on a cloud.

After being very alert for the first part of the shoot, baby Frances slept beautifully for the last half. This picture makes me want to roll up and go to sleep too. :-)

Smiling at 10 days old! Love it!!!

Looking adoringly at her Proud Papa.

And I can’t forget to include beautiful Beatrice of course! She looks extra grown up now that she is officially a Big Sister!

I loved this candid moment when I was asking Bea if Frances had soft hair, and she got curious and decided to try and pinch her nose instead. (Not to worry, the nose was unharmed ;-) .)

Thanks for letting me share in your joy, Shannon & Robb! It was so much fun to get to know the newest member of our PEPS clan!

Sneak Peek: Baby C is for Cute! | Seattle Baby & Family Photos

July 26, 2010 by MaryB

Right before I left on vacation, I had the pleasure of photographing gorgeous baby Camille and her adoring parents. Camille is just four months old, and I’m so excited that get to see her three times this year as we document the milestones leading up to her 1st birthday! The hot weather had decided to finally hit in Seattle the day before, so even though the temperatures were still pushing 90 at 6pm, baby Camille was a trooper. And she just loved looking RIGHT into the camera, which made life so easy for me!

Look at these blue eyes! Of course Mama (and everyone else) is smitten:

She also has a very tender connection to her Dad, which was so fun to document!

I couldn’t resist posting this one too, look at these cute baby thighs:

Camille will be sitting up on her own the next time I see her, but in the meantime, she is awfully cute in this Bumbo seat! :-)

This is one of my favorites, it is the whole family posed alongside Mom & Dad’s wedding tree, and Camille a cute little apple right underneath. And again, she is looking right at me! What more can a girl ask for (especially when it’s 90 degrees)?

I couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up a summer day- I can’t wait to see you guys again soon!

Exhibition photos

June 1, 2010 by MaryB

As some of you may know, I organized the Mamas With Cameras “Through the Eyes of a Mother” photo exhibit for the camera club that I run. It was such a blast, and so amazing to see so many beautiful pictures celebrating mamas and babies just in time to kick off Mother’s Day. Anyway, for my folks who couldn’t be there, here is my “virtual exhibit!”

“Asher in the womb”

“Sunset in Port Angeles”

“Mama love”

Engagement Sneak Peek! Kim & Matt, Seattle Area Engagement Portraits

May 10, 2010 by MaryB

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Kim & Matt, whose wedding I’ll be co-shooting this summer.  What a gorgeous couple they are! It was so fun to spend an hour just soaking up all the amazing love that they have for each other. They have a playfulness about them which is so endearing, and Matt has this great protective energy over Kim that just makes my heart melt when I look at the pictures from the session.

Ok, even their DOG is amazingly photogenic. Am I lucky or WHAT?

Happiness!!

Kim & Matt, I can’t wait to see you guys in August!

Lindsay & Jed- Bellevue, WA -Maternity Portraits

March 3, 2010 by MaryB

It was such an amazing experience to shoot these portraits of Lindsay at 32 weeks along with Proud Papa to be, Jed! How appropriate that it was the day before Valentine’s day. They are that gorgeous couple like the kind you see in the picture frame when you buy it at the store. And they were so filled with love and anticipation for their new little guy that it was absolutely infectious, and a wonderful way to kick off my Valentine’s weekend!! Thank you Lindsay and Jed!!

Meeting Baby Cordelia

January 25, 2010 by MaryB

I love going to the maternity floor at Swedish hospital. One step off the elevator and it all comes rushing back- it seems like only yesterday that I was there myself, meeting my own amazing little guy. Last week I was there for another special visit, to meet 8 hour old Baby Cordelia, born at a whopping 9 lbs 2 oz. Her mama Jennifer, who was already full of that maternal glow during her pregnancy portraits, was beaming with love, awe and the joy of new life. It was a treasured visit, and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to capture these early moments as her sweet new family was born.

Proud papa:

I love this picture, where Jennifer points out that Cordelia has “shoulder chubb”. What a cute little peach!

Have you ever seen a more proud mama?

This is the masthead for Seattle Parks & Recreation’s newsletter. I took this photo at the annual “pathway of lights” celebration at Green Lake, a cool event where they light the whole lake with brown paper bags filled with sand and candles. It was a fun challenge to get the exposure right, since I couldn’t shoot with a flash (or a tripod for that matter).  Let’s just say I was very grateful for my 85mm/1.2 that night!

Baby Olive

December 18, 2009 by MaryB

This shoot with four-day old baby Olive was such a treat! She is a gorgeous baby with a very sweet nature, and so amazingly NEW to the world! (I could barely control my oxytocin levels. ;-) ) That being said, Olive is decidedly NOT an exhibitionist. She didn’t want anything to do with any of the traditional nude baby shots (“It’s DECEMBER,” Olive seemed to say, “and it’s FREEZING in here. Are you guys nuts?!”) Luckily once Sara got her in a swaddle, she was as content as could be and I was back to my shutter-happy ways!

This first picture I caught as a candid while Sara was warming up Olive after we had tried to take a picture of her in a knit hat and her birthday suit. I actually love how you can feel the strong bond between mama and baby here.

Have swaddle, will travel! Look at this little smile, so warm and content…

Again with the smile here- she is actually mugging for the camera, incredible!

I love this picture of Olive in the stork sack, she looks so snug and cozy. Why don’t these come in adult sizes? ;-)

Ron, Priya and the twins

December 17, 2009 by MaryB

I had a great time shooting some photos for Ron & Priya’s holiday card last weekend! The twins were a blast and were great sports, especially since it was FREEZING out! With the nice afternoon glow of the sun in these photos, you wouldn’t know it was only a little bit over 30 degrees. If I could have shot with gloves on I would have.

Frances is walking already, Finn still needs a hand. :-) .

Jennifer maternity portraits

December 8, 2009 by MaryB

A week ago I had the privilege of shooting maternity portraits for one of my soul sisters, Jennifer (or Jennifa, as I like to call her). She is 32 weeks along and called me to tell me that she was becoming >HUGE< and that we better get some pictures of her, pronto! She was a little reluctant to have any pictures taken of her at all during the course of her pregnancy. Like any of us former preggies can relate, she was not feeling like quite the ‘creation goddess.’ I insisted that she looked beautiful, but I knew I needed my camera to prove it. That is one of the things I really love about photography: having the ability to show your subject something about themselves, or their connection to their loved ones, that they can’t see with their own eyes. I’m happy to report, that after seeing the photos, Jennifer finally agreed that she DOES look beautiful. I think you’ll agree too!
