When I was eight years old, I begged my dad for a camera for Christmas. When Christmas finally came, I eagerly unwrapped my gift under the tree—it was a Kodak Disc camera. Since that time, photos have been a big part of my life—from being on the yearbook staff, to documenting my life and travels as a Peace Corps volunteer, to working with marketing teams at National Geographic and Discovery Channel, to art-directing photo shoots for non-profits in my role as a marketing director.

After my son was born, my passion for photography reached a whole new level. Every moment, every detail of my son felt so precious and fleeting that I wanted to preserve each stage. As I dove deeper into the world of photography I became surrounded by an amazing community. I founded and currently lead a group called Mamas With Cameras, to help fellow mamas to document their family’s milestones and memories. The creativity, spirit and enthusiasm in that group continuously fills me with more and more passion for the art of photography.

As a photographer, I feel privileged to be able to show my subjects the beauty of their connection to the world and each other. As a mom, as well as a former bride, I know what to look for and capture in pregnancy, family and wedding portraits. I also know that being well-prepared, flexible, patient and creative goes a long way—especially with kids! I consider every photograph an opportunity to be present to the love and uniqueness of that moment in time. I strive to create a casual, relaxed atmosphere where the camera becomes virtually invisible, and genuine smiles abound.
